Velserbroek

Velserbroek by Robert Hamilton, 2002, 3 min., 53 sec., colour, stereo

The title of the video ‘Velserbroek’ is taken from the name of a neighbourhood outside of Haarlem, The Netherlands. The neighborhood is an example of what is referred to in Holland as “Social Architecture.” My intention was to create an ironic documentation of the vast “Social Architecture” project that is Velserbroek. I digitally erased all traces of cars, bikes and people from the video. The time lapse photography was captured with a consumer digital still camera.
